1. His career as an accompanist on Mridangam at the age of 11. He trained under Widwan Sri Srinvas, and was later instructed by renowned Mruddangist Vidwan C.Subbu

2. In 1996, Karnata Ganakala Parishath honoured him with title GANAKALASHREE, and elected him as honorary president for the Young Artist Music Festival for the year. This was the first time a percussion artist was given such an honour by the Karnataka Ganakala Parishath
